Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing is located at 800 Druid Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22902, USA. This address places them within Charlottesville, making them geographically accessible to residents throughout the city and potentially surrounding areas. A local presence can be a significant advantage, particularly when you're facing an unexpected plumbing emergency and need prompt attention. Proximity may also facilitate in-person discussions if necessary, providing a tangible local connection. However, while location offers convenience, the quality and reliability of service remain the most critical factors.
While a comprehensive, publicly available list of specific services from Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing isn't extensively detailed, based on typical local plumbing company offerings and the customer reviews provided, we can infer the types of services they may offer. It is always recommended to directly contact any plumbing service to confirm their exact current offerings and to ensure they are licensed for the specific work you need done in Virginia.
Services That May Be Offered (Based on Customer Reviews and General Plumbing Scope):
- General Plumbing Repairs: Addressing common issues such as leaks (as noted in one review), faucet repair, and other standard plumbing fixes.
- Pipe Replacement/Repair: One review mentions pipe replacement under a kitchen sink, indicating they undertake such tasks.
- Drain Cleaning/Clog Removal: Although a negative experience was described involving a clog, this type of service is typically a core offering for plumbers.
- Visible Exposed Plumbing or Finish Work: A positive review specifically highlights their suitability for "any visible exposed plumbing or finish work," suggesting attention to aesthetic detail in installations.
- Residential Plumbing Services: Both reviews indicate service for residential properties.
Analyzing the provided customer reviews reveals a mixed perspective on Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing. It's crucial to consider both the positive and negative feedback when assessing this provider.
Features / Highlights (Based on Customer Reviews):
Positive Aspects (from one long-term customer):
- Honesty and Knowledge: Described as "the most honest, clean, and knowledgeable plumber."
- Clean and Neat Work: Specifically noted for doing "clean and neat work" and often leaving the work area cleaner than when arrived, particularly for "visible exposed plumbing or finish work."
- Fair Prices: Customer found their prices to be "quite fair."
- Punctuality and Professionalism: Described as intelligent, well-spoken, arriving on time, and not cutting corners.
- Long-term Relationship: This customer used their services "several times over an 8-year span."
Critical Aspects (from another detailed customer account):
- Allegations of Intentional Clogging/Scam: A severe accusation where the customer claims the plumber intentionally created a clog (using electrical tape and balls of tape) to generate more work and a higher charge for pipe replacement.
- Lack of Transparency/Integrity: The customer felt "pressure tactics" were used and questioned the plumber's sincerity.
- Questionable Methods: Using electrical tape for a pipe connection was deemed unprofessional and likely a "scam" by two other plumbers consulted by the customer.

Given the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is strongly advised to exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence. Before any work begins, always confirm licensing and insurance, request a written estimate for all services, and clarify any warranties provided.
For residents in Charlottesville, Virginia, deciding on a plumbing service requires careful consideration, and the case of Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing highlights the importance of scrutinizing all available feedback. On one hand, a long-term customer praises the plumber for honesty, fair pricing, clean work, and overall professionalism over an eight-year period, specifically recommending them for visible or finish plumbing work. This suggests a capacity for quality service and a positive customer relationship for some clients.
However, the other detailed review presents extremely serious allegations, including claims of intentional sabotage (creating a clog with tape) to generate additional, unnecessary work. Such accusations, if true, indicate a severe breach of trust, unethical business practices, and potentially dangerous methods. Furthermore, the claim that two other independent plumbers corroborated the idea of a "scam" related to the use of electrical tape for a connection is a significant red flag that cannot be overlooked.
In light of these dramatically conflicting accounts, Charlottesville locals should approach Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing with considerable caution. While the positive feedback might indicate a certain level of skill in specific areas, the negative review's detailed accusations about fraudulent practices are deeply concerning. Before engaging their services, it is paramount to:
- Verify current licensing through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to ensure they are properly licensed for plumbing work in Virginia.
- Obtain multiple quotes from other reputable, licensed, and insured plumbers in Charlottesville, especially for significant repairs or installations.
- Insist on a detailed, written estimate for all work to be performed, outlining materials, labor, and expected outcomes.
- Request and confirm any warranties in writing.
- Consider researching any disciplinary actions or complaints filed against the business or individual plumber through DPOR or local consumer protection agencies.
Ultimately, while Real's Clean & Neat Plumbing operates locally, the severe nature of one customer's allegations demands that potential clients prioritize thorough vetting to protect their homes and finances. For critical home services, peace of mind comes from knowing you've chosen a provider with an unblemished record of integrity and quality.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve used Real’s Plumbing several times at my home now and he is by far the most honest, clean, and knowledgeable plumber I’ve found. I continue to use his services because he really does do clean and neat work. I’ve found that his prices are quite fair. He is certainly not like some of the other plumbers I’ve encountered. I’ve used him several times over an 8 year span and have gotten to know him we’ll enough to say he is intelligent, well spoken, arrives on time, doesn’t cut corners, and usually leaves the place he was working cleaner than when arrived. I would highly recommend him if you need a plumber to do any visible exposed plumbing or finish work.
Apr 18, 2018 · Jake SnyderDO NOT USE Real's Clean & Neat PlumbingWe called Jessreal Synder of Real’s Clean & Neat Plumbing after a recommendation from Facebook. Jessreal came right over to fix some basic leaks. Afterwards told us our pipes were done wrong under the kitchen sink by our contractor. Seemed super sincere so we ok’ed replacing the pipes. He did so but then the pipes started leaking again and suddenly the sink was clogging up. Mind you, we had never had a clog before this point. Called him back and immediately came over and told up that we should run larger pipes to ensure no more clogs at a cost of close to $1000. When his assistant Getty suggested snaking the drain he gave him a look and said he wouldn’t do that and it was best to replace pipes. Jessreal then said he was only available the next day (Friday) and unavailable for the next week. I began to realize this was a pressure tactic. I said I would think about it because I knew something was off about the way things went down. The next day I decided to take the pipes off myself and have a look. I found electrical tape wrapped around the drain pipe covering the lower half of the pipe. When I began to take it off I realized there was also 2 balls of electric tape connect to the outside tape and shoved into the pipe. I took everything off, reconnected the pipes and haven’t had a leak or back up since. After thinking about it-you cover the lower half to create a little back up, when you plunge the 2 balls create the permanent clog. Genius right.I called him over a few days later. I confronted him with the situation and he denied intentionally creating a clog claiming he placed tape around the pipe because the hose was too big to fit onto the pipe. He said didn’t know how the balls of tape got there. I ask him why he would use electric tape instead of getting a connection that fit and he didn’t have an answer. I since called two other plumbers and explained the situation sending them pictures. They told me a plumber would never use electric tape to get a better fit and that it was most likely a scam to create more work.I would strongly recommend staying away from Real’s Clean & Neat Plumbing. Please share this with every person you know and every neighborhood association.

Jul 04, 2015 · Andrew ShurtleffA drainage pipe below the foundation flooded the basement. It was broken. We called Real's Plumbing and they had to tear out our cabinets in the basement, drill through the floor (and later the wall), dig a new trench down the backyard, and lay new pipe to connect with the city sewer. They really lived up to the name. Reasonably priced, quick, smart, all around fantastic work. Never call anyone else.
