Insulation levels and thermal performance are measured by R-Value. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation's ability to resist heat flow. Many homes have as little as 9 in. of attic insulation in regions where the U.S. Department of Energy recommends 16 in. It is recommended that most homes in New Jersey have between R-49 and R-60 of attic insulation, depending on the insulation material.Air sealing is a critical step when insulating an attic because sealing air leaks stops conditioned interior air from leaking into the attic. Air sealing can prevent attic mold and significantly reduce heating and cooling bills. Pipe Works Services, Inc. uses a variety of materials and techniques to stop this energy-wasting air leakage. Be sure to check out our specialized SuperAttic™ System for continuous & airtight coverage.

Blown-in insulation is also referred to as "blow-in" or "blown" insulation. It doesn't really matter which term you use. What DOES matter is the improved energy performance that blown insulation makes possible in any unfinished attic.According to the U.S. Dept. of Energy, most attics aren't adequately insulated. A typical home is likely to have less than R-20 attic insulation. But throughout most northern states, the DOE recommends that attics in be insulated to R-49 or more.

- Emergency Plumbing
Some plumbing emergencies occur because of accidents, like cutting into a water line by mistake during a home improvement project. In other cases, bad weather can cause plumbing lines to freeze or burst. But many plumbing emergencies are due to the normal wear and tear of everyday use. Drains clog and back up, well pumps wear out, and water heaters begin to leak.No matter what causes a plumbing emergency, quick action is almost always important to avert property damage, or to restore plumbing operations so the household can function normally.
- Garage Insulation
Garage Insulation installation for increased energy efficiency by our expert contractors Garages can cause your house to lose heat in winter and be a source of heat gain in summer. Cold (or warm) air infiltrates the garage ceiling assembly and makes its way to the living space above.Insulating the garage ceiling It's essential to insulate the garage ceiling if there is living space above the garage. Without garage ceiling insulation, the living space above the garage will be uncomfortably cold in winter and hot in summer. You'll be wasting energy nearly all year round.Insulating garage walls. When the garage is attached to the house, the wall that separates the garage from the living space should be air sealed, insulated and finished with fire-rated drywall.Insulating the garage with rigid foam SilverGlo™ rigid foam insulation installed by the experts at Pipe Works Services, Inc., can provide insulating and air sealing value superior to other types of garage insulation. - Gas Hot Water Heaters
Some gas water heaters are calibrated to burn natural gas, while others are set up to burn propane, also commonly known as LPG or LP gas. A tank-type gas water heater is essentially a storage tank with a central flue that also serves as a heat exchanger (see drawing). 60-gallon and 80-gallon water heaters and two of the most common sizes for homes equipped with tank-type water heaters.Like other tank-type water heaters, a gas-fired, tank-type water heater contains a number of critical components: temperature control, sacrificial anode, relief valve, cold & hot water supply lines, drain valve and tank insulation.Tankless water heaters can also utilize natural gas or LPG as the heating fuel. Instead of storing a supply of heated water that’s always ready for use, a tankless water heater activates its heating element only when someone opens a hot water tap or turns on a washing machine or dishwasher.
- HVAC
Don't be confused by all of the heating and air conditioning terms that are related to your home's indoor comfort system. Understanding HVAC terms can help you make informed decisions about home comfort and safety, as well as energy savings.Important HVAC terms to understand include:Air balancing - A professional technician can help you balance your air conditioning and heating system to ensure that the correct amount of air is delivered to specific areas of your home.Ducts - Your home's air moves throughout the structure and back to the air conditioner or furnace via these round or rectangular conduits.Energy Star - The U.S. government brands certain energy-efficient air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, water heaters and a horde of other appliances and products as Energy Star certified.HVAC - This is the priMary acronym used to describe the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in your home.

- Hydro Jetting
Hydro-jetting is a process using high pressured water that scours the interior of your pipes. If you notice that your drains are slow or backing up on a regular basis, hydro-jetting can make a big difference. Remember that bacon grease you dumped down the kitchen sink thinking it's not a big deal? Well those small acts can come back to haunt you at the most inopportune time, like Thanksgiving Day! Jetting can remove grease, calcium, and other debris that may have been flushed through your pipes. Our Specialists can hook up a hose to a high pressured tank at 5,000 PSI or more. The process works in conjunction with gravity pulling waste water from the home. The tool is inserted from the bottom up, it's inserted into the downstream part of the system, and then works it's way up and flushes out through the sewer.

Tankless Water HeatingAlso called on-demand water heating, tankless water heating doesn't use a tank to store water. Rather, it uses a heating element–again, either gas or electric–to heat water the moment you ask for it. There's no wasted energy as unused water sits in a tank, getting heated and reheated on demand. The tankless unit will continue heating the water, as long as you need it. This means lower energy bills than a storage-tank model.Tankless water heating is not without its disadvantages. These systems cost more to install than storage-tank units, especially gas-fueled systems. Second, if you don't size the tankless water heater correctly, it won't be able to satisfy many simultaneous uses. Many homeowners combine a whole-house tankless unit with one or more remote, point-of-use units for efficient whole-house water heating.
- Rigid Foam Insulation
Rigid foam insulation provides high insulating value with little thickness, but not all rigid foam performs the same. The experts at Pipe Works Services, Inc. can help you choose the best rigid foam for the area of your house that needs insulating.Polyisocyanurate (often referred to as polyiso) has the highest R-value per inch of any rigid foam insulation. Polyiso is a closed-cell rigid insulation that can be used in a variety of applications, including cavity walls, stud walls, masonry walls and vaulted ceilings.Extruded polystyrene (XPS) is a closed-cell insulation, usually pink or blue in color, with a smooth plastic surface. The closed-cell structure of XPS foam board provides a consistent R-value of R-5 per inch regardless of density.Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is an inexpensive insulation material that meets or exceeds all required building and energy codes. EPS rigid insulation is the most versatile of the three rigid foam insulation options and can be used for insulating.

- Spray Foam Insulation
Tricky Application: It takes experience to get the feel of applying spray foam, especially two-part foams. With their different expansion rates and other qualities, they prove difficult for someone without experience to get the most of this material. For example, a high-expanding foam will damage a door or window jamb, but our training and experience can prevent this from happening.Oftentimes, spray foam can also be wasted and get messy -- but our fully trained specialists know how to get the job done well the first time! Temperature sensitive: Cold temperatures affect the chemistry that causes the foaming action. It's critical to keep spray foam cans or two-part foam canisters within a specific temperature range for successful application.
- System Upgrades
- Tankless Water Heater
Most tankless water heaters burn either natural gas or propane fuel. But no fuel is burned until someone turns on a hot water tap, a dishwasher or a washing machine. Water flow automatically ignites the water heater’s burner, and your water is heated as it follows a serpentine path through the heating element. Within just a few seconds, you have hot water.Tankless water heaters are also known as “on-demand water heaters” for obvious reasons. Unlike a tank-type water heater that must consume energy intermittently to maintain a minimum hot water temperature in the storage tank, a tankless water heater only burns fuel when you need hot water.
- Trenchless Plumbing
Do you need to repair or replace a sewer line or install a new water pipe between the main supply line and your house? Home and business owners dread buried pipe repairs and installations because of trenching work that damages landscaping elements and paved areas.Wouldn’t it be great if buried pipe repairs and installations could be done without trenching? They can! At Pipe Works Services, Inc. we can eliminate destructive trenching by using advanced trenchless equipment.Contact us today to schedule an on-site inspection and quote for our trenchless plumbing services in Livingston, Parsippany, Summit or nearby.

- Air Sealing
Air sealing and insulation go hand-in-handIt's important to note that neither insulation or air sealing alone are enough to reduce heat flow. Air sealing should always be done before insulation is installed. As part of our air sealing strategy, we typically air seal the attic first since this is where the most significant leakage occurs. The basement and crawl space areas are our second priority. Air sealing these spaces eliminates a major source of cold air infiltration.Fiberglass insulation is too light to stop air leakage, however, spray foam insulation can effectively reduce air leakage. Air sealing and insulation upgrades from Pipe Works Services, Inc. can possibly cut your heating and cooling costs in half.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Anthony and the team did an amazing job with our sewer valve replacement. Coming in I was nervous about how much of the front yard would be dug up and Anthony was meticulous and careful about everything. He put the front yard back to where it looked nicer after the project! I recommend Anthony and Pipeworks and if I could give 6 stars I would.
Jun 03, 2025 · Ryan SchaferInstallation was a success! Ty, Jesus, & Joe addressed all the unexpected issues that came up & spent an extra day completing the work. I am grateful they could spend the extra time to finish before a major heatwave! Ty helped me set up the app for my new thermostat & gave me plenty of info about the new system. Rob was great in handling the paperwork & explaining the entire process from the beginning. The office staff is friendly & addressed any issues in a timely manner. Though there were several bumps in the road, the team worked hard to keep my installation date & I thank them immensely! Highly recommended!!
Jun 18, 2025 · Jenna BleekeI’ve worked with Delroy C. and had a positive professional experience. He came for initial inspection to: 1) replace a water softener, 2) install smart water shutoff, and 3) replace garden hose bib. He quickly scoped the work, and recommended improvements according to best practices. We confirmed the work on an all above, and he came for a follow up visit. He worked cleanly and impressively solo handled heavy equipment. He politely described the work done, and we worked through some issues specific to prior installation in a productive manner.Overall I had a good experience, and would recommend working with Delroy and the company.
Jul 17, 2025 · Timur ReziapovGreat experience with Pipeworks. The crew was very professional, communicative, and detail oriented. We had to have a new drainage system installed to replace old, clogged pipes in the front and back yard. After digging a lot of our yard up for 3 days, they left it better than before and even laid grass seed and hay down. Very pleased with the overall job and would work with this company again.
Mar 24, 2025 · Boneli LotillaEdit 5/9/25: downgraded to two stars after speaking with family and friends. Simply not acceptable that I clearly communicated about my home’s cleanliness and was told “I am in good hands and we’re good at what we do”. Especially the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors covers were not removed after the job was done. Unacceptable.Initial review as follows:I gave clear instructions to the salesman about how particular I am about the cleanliness of my home and especially my new marble floors, granite countertops etc. Also told him that the technicians need to wear shoe covers when inside my place. The salesman, Perry, assured me he told the team about my home, the shoe covers and said I was in good hands. Didn’t turn out that way. Brandon who seemed to be the supervisor in charge of the other two guys wore shoe covers. Jesus walked in with no shoe covers and I told him right away. Jesus did not properly screw in a return grill and the aeroseal sprayed onto my marble floors which they didn’t bother to protect. They did a rush clean up and left my floor feeling tacky so I had to mop all my marble floors after they left with special cleaning solution. Jesus did not properly screw the return back in and one side was bent and so the return grill was not seated flush on the wall as it was prior to Pipeworks touching it. They sent a tech to fix it today who seemed to wonder why it was not put back correctly in the first place. Other things to note are they left a piece of masking tape on my bathroom floor, they left two smoke detectors and one carbon monoxide detector covered after they left. These are life saving devices and should have never been left covered. They did not plug my dryer back into the outlet they used and I had to fish around behind it with a long grabber tool to pull up the cord and plug it back in. My question is why didn’t the supervisor check the whole place before they left? Why didn’t he pay closer attention to what the new guy Jesus was doing instead of blaming him after the sealant leaked on my floors? I do not like being told I am in good hands and we’re good at what we do when clearly that was not the case. I would seriously think twice about hiring this company that hires inept technicians and a supervisor that does not supervise.
