For Charlottesville, Virginia, locals seeking plumbing and heating services, the decision regarding George Hensley Plumbing/Heating requires careful and critical consideration of the provided customer feedback. On one hand, a positive review highlights their capacity to handle major plumbing and sewage issues efficiently, offer useful suggestions, and even successfully complete a bathroom renovation, leading to a high recommendation. This suggests that in some instances, customers have had satisfactory experiences with their services.
However, the other detailed review presents an extremely alarming and consistent pattern of severe problems, including allegations of continuous plumbing issues over a decade in a new build, significant property damage from flooding due to apparent mistakes, refusal to accept fault, and fundamental errors like mixing metal fittings leading to corrosion. The claims of "careless, reckless, and difficult to work with" behavior, combined with other plumbers being "baffled by his plumbing techniques," are very serious red flags that cannot be ignored. The reported need to replace "90% of his finished work" and hearing "several horror stories" from others further amplify these concerns.
Given this stark contrast in experiences, Charlottesville residents should proceed with extreme caution when considering George Hensley Plumbing/Heating. While their local address offers convenience, the severe nature of the negative feedback—especially concerning quality of work, accountability, and potential for significant financial loss and property damage—necessitates extensive due diligence.

- Verify George Hensley Plumbing/Heating's current licensing and insurance status with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR). This is crucial for ensuring they are legally qualified and insured for the work.
- Request and check multiple references from recent clients, specifically inquiring about the longevity and quality of the work performed, and how any issues were handled.
- Obtain a detailed, written contract and estimate for any work, outlining the scope, materials, labor costs, and a clear, written warranty.
- For larger projects like new construction or major renovations, consider independent inspections of the plumbing and heating work by a third-party professional.
- Prioritize reviews from multiple sources and look for consistent patterns of either positive or negative experiences.
While supporting local businesses is valuable, ensuring the safety, longevity, and proper functionality of your home's essential systems should always take precedence. For complex or critical plumbing and heating needs, exploring alternatives with consistently positive and verifiable reputations in Charlottesville is a prudent approach.

George Hensley Plumbing/Heating Reviews
George Hensley did the plumbing for me when I built my house. I have a beautiful lovely home but my biggest regret when building it was having George Hensley do the plumbing. I've been experience continuous problems with the plumbing for 10 years now and had to replace 90% of his finished work. I do not recommend using him for anything that has to do with water in your home. He was careless, reckless, and difficult to work with. He flooded the upstairs of my house and cost me thousands of dollars. He refused to admit to being at fault when the evidence was clear that they had made a mistake and cut into a water line. Shortly after my house was completed I had to replace almost every single fixture in my house. George's plumbers mixed metal fittings when installing and causes serious corrosion problems. Other plumbers who came out to repair his work were baffled by his plumbing techniques. Since then I have heard several horror stories about his work. The work he provided for me was sloppy and still high priced. I would highly recommend finding anyone else other than George Hensley to help you with any plumbing needed.
