After much consideration, I’ve decided to move forward with a review of Anderson shortell inc. I called them out to come out and check my rooftop AC unit, which was not putting out any cold air. They came out within four hours looked at my unit and told me it needed to have a condenser fan motor replaced, and the coils cleaned. I okayed the work at which point they started the repair work. When they were finished cleaning the coils and replacing the condenser fan motor they also told me that it was low on refrigerant and needed 2 pounds added to the system. They billed me $2680 for the work at which time I thought it was a little excessive but paid it without hesitation. my AC worked again and that’s all that matter to me. Three days later the system stopped working so I called them back out and they told me someone would be out within four hours. No one ever showed up nor did I ever receive a call from them. Fortunately for me, the weather cooled down and I was not in need of my AC at that time. Three days later my AC unit started working on its own again. But again in 10 days, it stopped working and would no longer turn on. I called them out again and insisted they come out at which point they sent somebody out within four hours. They arrived and checked my AC system and told me that it needed a new blower motor thermostat wire and a New 75 amp fuse. This time they quoted me a price of $5084.42. Stating it would take approximately 12 hours to complete the work. Myself being a former HVAC worker knew this was an excessive price for the repairs needed. what got me upset was the fact that when they were out three weeks prior they saw the condition of my thermostat wire and failed to tell me about it and left it in a condition that would require the unit to fail again at some point in the near future Telling me they knew it would fail and I would have to call them back for another service call which is totally unacceptable. That should’ve been taken care of on the first visit when such an obvious problem would result in my AC unit failing again. I told them not to come back and that I would come out of retirement to make my own repairs. Total parts were $2100 for the blower fan motor thermostat wire and 70 amp fuse. They were going to charge me nearly $3000 for labor alone and told me it would take up to 12 hours to complete. I completed it in one hour and 55 minutes. This company is out to scam people and are a predatory company. They pray on people when they are most vulnerable when AC units are not working and it is terribly hot and people are left with no choice but to pay whatever they’re told to pay. Fortunately for me, I had the experience to do the work myself, but there are many people who fall victim to their predatory tactics. This type of business practices are uncalled for and I just wanted to tell my story so that people understand how this company does business! I would highly suggest if you are in need of AC repair you call someone else and I understand that there are a few people around This area to do the work and that’s unfortunate. Please do not fall victim to this company and their predatory tactics.

Joe, a master plumber with 20 years experience, came out and took care of the broken valve that lets water into the house. I just purchased the property and moved in on Thursday afternoon. The valve leaked and we had to leave the water off. I called and left messages for help from about 3 other plumbers, but none of my voicemails were answered. I finally found Anderson Shortell who sent Joe out after hours on Friday and fixed us up. We had very old valve. He was able to find one at the shop. I am very happy with the service I received. I will be calling them again for any other plumbing issues that come up.

Anderson Shortell is the epitome of professionalism.I had a window ac unit installed.First, Jen coordinated everything; she was wonderful, courteous, and helpful.Next, I spoke with Chris who identified, scope design, components, and specified what was to be delivered.Then, Zach installed, verified, and tested all ac features and functions.Overall, I am extremely Happy with all of their services. Buyer beware! Ask about their rates before hiring. Was charged 425.00 for them to use my shovel for 15 minutes, peek inside my septic tank and then told to call another company as they could not help me with my issue. Maximum time spent at my house was 30 minutes and I’m being generous with that estimate. I called the company to complain about this outrageous charge and told I should have asked about the cost before hiring and I was paying for their expert opinion and training not the time spent at my home. This call was made during normal business hours and not an emergency call or off hours. They didn’t bill me for 3 months and then put late fees on my bill but agreed to remove the late fees. Bottom line… they are the most expensive plumbing service I’ve ever experienced and have poor billing practices. You may not see a bill for months then surprise you months later. I regret not calling others in the area first.

I would give a minus if could. Before having them come to your house be sure to ask about charges, if need parts return charges, etc. Unfortunately not alot of choices in the area. If under stress step back and check around. I feel probably the two major plumbing business in Olean is the most unreasonable and unprofessional .
